Learning the Watering Habit for Barrel Cactus

There is no evidence of abundant watering of a Barrel Cactus. The biggest mistake that the enthusiasts make is to overwater, and this results in a mushy bottom and rotting. In spring and summer, when the growing season is active, it is good to soak the soil, but only when it is completely dry. As winter comes near and the plant goes into dormancy, cut down drastically on the amount of watering to once every several weeks or even months. The drainage holes should always be numerous in your pot to allow the extra moisture to run out fast.
