Connor Gallagher's Tottenham signing grows closer

The 'trifecta' is in perfect alignment.

Tottenham Hotspur want it badly. Chelsea wants to sell at the right time, for the right price, and most of all, the player doesn't want to leave London. Tottenham manager Enze Postecoglou's favorite midfielder, Conor Gallagher, 24, is looking increasingly likely to wear a Spurs shirt in the summer transfer window. The conditions are falling into place.

“The £40 million midfielder, who has been targeted by both Tottenham and Newcastle, is keen to stay near London,” British outlet TBR Football reported on Thursday (June 24). This is an update on the competition for Chelsea's young midfielder and the future of Gallagher.

Tottenham and Newcastle currently sit fifth (60 points) and sixth (50 points) in the league, respectively. Despite what the point differential suggests, the two teams are not in contention with each other. Tottenham is looking to finish fourth and qualify for the Champions League, while Newcastle is focused on finishing sixth to secure a Europa League spot.

Coincidentally, the two teams are locked in a race to sign one big name star. Chelsea midfielder Connor Gallagher. Gallagher has been consistently linked with a move away from Chelsea.

Sky Sports journalist Darmesh Seth recently told GiveMeSports that the Blues could let Gallagher leave at the end of the season. Gallagher doesn't want to leave Chelsea, but the Blues must sell him before June 30 so that the proceeds can be booked into the current financial year to comply with the club's profitability and sustainability rules (PSR).

As a result, Chelsea will be looking to sell Gallagher as soon as possible. His asking price is currently around £40 million. Both Tottenham and Newcastle can afford it. The race to the bottom is fierce

As you can see, Tottenham and Newcastle are both in the running for Gallagher, but the way things are going, Tottenham is likely to be the winner. Dean Jones told GiveMeSports that Spurs are likely to sign Gallagher because he wants to stay in London or a city near London.

As is well known, Gallagher is a Chelsea youth franchise star. He was born and raised in Epsom, Surrey, west of London. His family and friends live in and around London, so he doesn't want to leave Chelsea, or if he does, he doesn't want to move far away.

As a result, local experts believe that if Gallagher were to leave, it would most likely be for a club with ties to London and its neighboring cities. Tottenham, based in North London, could fulfill all of Gallagher"s requirements. Postecoglou is a big fan of Gallagher and wants to sign him. The addition of Gallagher would give Spurs an even stronger midfield. With that, they should be able to challenge for fourth place or higher.
